Over 100 thousand passengers will lose their Lítačka card. The office advises on how to resolve it. Penalties are looming
Over 130,000 passengers in Prague need to exchange their Lítačka public transport cards, originally valid through 2020, to avoid penalties.
Prague's Lítačka public transportation card, which replaced the old opencard in 2016, will become invalid for over 130,000 passengers this year if they do not exchange their cards. Vladimír Antonin Bláha, spokesperson for the city's ICT Operator (OICT), announced that many cards still show a validity expiration of 2020, which means they were issued in 2016. These cards have already had their validity extended twice in the past, but the time has come for passengers to act.
The OICT emphasizes the importance of checking the expiration date printed on the card itself. As long as the card shows 2020 as the expiration year, it needs to be replaced. This exchange process is unrelated to the validity of any temporal travel pass currently loaded onto the card. For those unsure about their card's status, they can check online through the PID Lítačka website, which also outlines the replacement procedure.
Users can order a new card for free from their personal account on the Lítačka website, and it will be sent by post. Additionally, passengers are advised to visit the relevant services if they require assistance. Failure to replace the card in time may lead to penalties, highlighting the urgency of this requirement for the affected passengers, who must act promptly to avoid disruptions in their commuting.
