More Staff: Deutsche Bahn Wants to Invest More Money in Clean Toilets

Deutsche Bahn plans to enhance its long-distance services by increasing staff for cleaning and improving onboard facilities like toilets and restaurants with an additional investment of €20 million.

Deutsche Bahn, the state-owned German rail company, has announced a new initiative to improve comfort in long-distance trains, which includes hiring more cleaning staff, ensuring quicker repairs for toilets, and enhancing food offerings in onboard restaurants. The move comes in response to passenger complaints about both punctuality and onboard facilities. "Passengers will notice that changes are happening in long-distance trains, and quickly," stated Michael Peterson, the board member responsible for long-distance services.

As part of this program, Deutsche Bahn is set to allocate an additional €20 million this year to foster a more reliable experience in onboard dining while also ensuring a greater availability of essential facilities such as toilets and coffee machines. The initiative aims to address long-standing issues regarding cleanliness and maintenance that have affected passenger satisfaction.

The rail operator also plans to double the number of cleaning staff on heavily used trains in the coming weeks to provide better hygiene and service quality. This timely move highlights Deutsche Bahn's commitment to enhancing travel comfort while simultaneously attempting to regain the trust of its passengers amidst ongoing challenges with punctuality and service reliability.
