Heating tariffs have decreased in Aizkraukle and Madona, but will increase in Cesis, Olaines, and Saulkrasti
Heating tariffs are set to decrease in Aizkraukle and Madona, while increases are anticipated in Cesis, Olaines, and Saulkrasti starting March 1, 2026.
Beginning March 1, 2026, new heating tariffs have been approved for various municipalities in Latvia, signaling significant changes in energy costs for residents. Specifically, lower tariffs have been confirmed for SIA "Aizkraukles siltums" in Aizkraukle, set at β¬70.39/MWh, and for SIA "Madonas siltums" in several villages within Madona, at β¬69.10/MWh. This decrease reflects efforts to manage heating costs for residents in these areas amid changing energy market conditions.
Conversely, certain municipalities will experience substantial increases in heating costs. For instance, SIA "Adven Latvia" in Cesis will see rates rise to β¬85.30/MWh, while SIA "Olaines Ε«dens un siltums" in Olaines is set at β¬85.61/MWh. Other locations such as Saulkrasti and Burtnieku village are also expected to bear higher tariffs, indicating a trend toward escalating energy prices in these regions. The tariffs are being adjusted to accommodate the varying costs of energy production and distribution, which could impact household budgets significantly.
These shifts in heating tariffs are crucial for local governments and residents, as they directly affect living costs and energy accessibility. The decisions made at this time will not only influence local economies but also indicate broader energy trends in Latvia. With changes in both directions, residents will need to adjust and plan their expenses accordingly, and policymakers may require ongoing adjustments to align tariffs with market conditions and community needs.
