Police operation in Huskvarna – suspected object assessed not to be live
A police operation in Huskvarna led to the discovery of a suspected dangerous object that turned out to be a replica, resulting in one arrest for drug-related offenses.
On Friday morning, Swedish police were alerted to a multi-family building in Huskvarna to assist ambulance services with a medical emergency. While attending to the incident, officers discovered a suspicious object, which they could not initially assess for danger. Consequently, the national bomb squad was called to the scene to ensure public safety and determine the nature of the object.
After an hour of investigation, authorities announced that the object, which resembled a homemade bomb, was not live or dangerous. Police spokesperson Angelica Israelsson Silfver described the item as a sort of makeshift construction intended to imitate an explosive device. This finding allowed police to reassess the situation and conclude that the earlier suspicions regarding immediate danger were unfounded.
During the police intervention, two individuals—a woman in her 30s and a man in his 25s—were present in the apartment where the object was found. Initially, both were viewed as suspects for preparing a dangerous act, violating laws on flammable and explosive materials, as well as drug offenses. However, with the object deemed safe, the charges related to the explosive device were dropped, leaving the male suspect facing arrest only for narcotics-related charges.
