Anthropic, an AI company led by CEO Dario Amodei, has taken a strong stance against the U.S. Department of Defense's requests regarding the usage of its technology. Amodei stated that the company would rather forgo collaboration with the Pentagon than adhere to conditions that could lead to the technology being used in ways considered dangerous to democratic values. This decision came shortly after a meeting between Amodei and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, where the Pentagon sought to ensure that Anthropic would accept 'any legitimate use' of its AI tools.
