Jon Stephensen refused a large sum of money offered by leaders of the Moderates party to resign from his mandate while on leave.

Jon Stephensen, a Danish politician, disclosed in an interview with Ekstra Bladet that he was offered 1.3 million kroner by high-ranking officials of the Moderates party in August 2023 to resign from his parliamentary mandate. This offer came while he was on a self-paid leave following several scandals that had started to tarnish his reputation. Despite the hefty sum, Stephensen chose to refuse the proposal, emphasizing that he believed stepping down would have been highly detrimental to him personally.
