"Mr. Nobody vs Putin": the growing regime propaganda even includes children

A documentary film from Karabash, Russia, highlights the effects of state propaganda on children amid a backdrop of severe environmental degradation.

The documentary "Mr. Nobody vs Putin" was filmed in Karabash, a small town in the Ural Mountains, known for its severe pollution from the nearby copper smelter, which UNESCO has deemed the most contaminated place on Earth. In this town, the life expectancy is extraordinarily low at just 38 years. Despite this, the film's protagonist, Pasha Talankin, who is also the co-director, expresses a deep love for his hometown, describing it as the "industrial heart of Russia". His dedication is evident in his role as an event coordinator and school videographer, where he documented key moments in the lives of students while simultaneously capturing the militaryization process affecting the local school and community.
