A truck lost control and collided with several parked vehicles in Thiva, resulting in three minor injuries.
A traffic accident occurred early on Friday morning on Thiva Avenue, near Aigaleo, when a truck collided with four motorcycles and three cars. The incident took place around 07:20 AM when the truck driver, coming from Piraeus towards Aigaleo, lost control of the vehicle, mounted the curb of the median dividing the two traffic directions, knocked down two signs and a traffic light, and crashed into a car containing two passengers. The truck subsequently struck a total of four motorcycles before coming to a stop against two additional parked vehicles located a bit further back.
As a result of this chaotic series of events, three individuals sustained minor injuries: the two passengers from the car that was hit by the truck and the truck driver himself. They were transported to Attiko Hospital for medical evaluation, and according to public television reports, their health status is stable. Emergency services responded with a significant presence of Traffic Police at the scene, as well as a specialized tow truck to remove the damaged truck from the site of the accident.
The incident highlights the potential dangers of heavy vehicle operation in urban areas, emphasizing the need for stricter traffic regulations and monitoring to prevent such accidents. The local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the truck losing control, and further safety measures may be considered to enhance road safety along Thiva Avenue.
