VIDEO: Knepels breaks NBA rookie record for three-pointers made
Kons Knepels set a new NBA rookie record for most three-pointers made during a game against the Indiana Pacers.
United States basketball talent Kons Knepels made headlines on Thursday by setting a new NBA rookie record for three-pointers made in a single season during his game with the Charlotte Hornets. In a match where the Hornets triumphed over the Indiana Pacers with a score of 133-109, Knepels scored 28 points, making eight out of twelve three-point attempts. He has now made a total of 209 three-pointers in 58 games this season, the highest in the league among all players.
Previously, the record for the most three-pointers made by a rookie was held by Keegan Murray, who made 206 three-pointers in 80 games during the 2022-23 season with the Sacramento Kings. Knepels, who was drafted by the Hornets in the fourth overall pick of the last NBA draft, has quickly become a prominent figure in the league. Before entering the NBA, he played for Duke University alongside Cooper Flagg, who was selected by the Dallas Mavericks as the first overall pick.
The performance of Knepels has significant implications for the Charlotte Hornets as they aim for a spot in the playoffs. Currently, they hold a record of 29 wins and 31 losses, placing them 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. Conversely, the Indiana Pacers are struggling this season with a 15-45 record, further highlighting the Hornets' strong performance in the game against them.
