T. Sedekerskis’ season may be over: another operation will be needed
Lithuanian basketball player T. Sedekerskis is likely to miss the remainder of the season due to a persistent ankle injury requiring another surgery.
After a painful loss to Valencia Basket in the EuroLeague, Vitoria's Baskonia head coach announced in a press conference that Lithuanian player T. Sedekerskis' season is likely over due to injury. Sedekerskis, who had been averaging 8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 10 efficiency points per game, last played on November 25 against Kaunas Zalgiris, where he revealed ongoing ankle pain that had severely affected his performance.
Sedekerskis has been struggling with severe ankle problems for three months, having previously played for the Lithuanian national team despite the injury. He expressed pride in representing his country but acknowledged that playing during the season had hindered his abilities significantly. Following the recent game, he mentioned that he had been dependent on pain medication and had begun contemplating rehabilitation after what he called a very challenging season.
The basketball star underwent ankle surgery on December 11, with initial expectations that he could return to the court soon. However, after the latest developments, it seems that further corrective surgery will be necessary, casting doubt on his ability to return to competitive play this season, which raises concerns about his future prospects in both the EuroLeague and international competitions.
