Out of the Field for Youth: 300 Free Sports Events
The 'Fuori Campo' initiative in Milan offers over 300 free sports events aimed at youth, particularly targeting those in socially vulnerable conditions.
The 'Fuori Campo' initiative has been launched in Milan, introducing over 300 free and accessible sports events for adolescents and young people. Running from February to December, this program aims to animate public spaces such as squares and parks, promoting sports among youths who might otherwise lack such opportunities. Organized by the Comune and the Fondazione di Comunità Milano, with support from several foundations, the initiative reflects a commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
The program is not only about sport; it aims to foster social interaction and support the well-being of participants, particularly focusing on those from socially marginalized backgrounds. Working alongside 18 local organizations coordinated by Sanga Milano, a diverse range of activities from skateboarding to break dancing and art workshops will be hosted across various locations like Parco Trotter and Corvetto basketball courts. This involvement of different neighborhoods contributes to both the engagement of young people and the revitalization of public spaces.
'Fuori Campo' represents a significant step toward addressing social fragility through sports in Milan, as it brings together community resources to create a cohesive and supportive environment for the youth. With such a wide-ranging schedule of events, the hope is to inspire not only a love of sports but also a sense of belonging and community among participants, which may lead to long-term positive changes in their lives and neighborhoods.
