The sky will not be so blue. Dust from the Sahara will reach Czechia, affecting temperatures

Saharan dust is expected to impact temperatures and the color of the sky in Czechia by the end of the week, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.

Towards the end of the week, Czechia will be affected by dust from the Sahara, which is anticipated to rise into the atmosphere. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) stated that there will likely be very little precipitation, meaning the fine sand is not expected to dirty vehicles or windows. However, this Saharan dust may slightly lower daytime temperatures, particularly on Sunday afternoon and into Monday.

Meteorological forecasts predict maximum temperatures to range from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius on Saturday, but with the advent of the Saharan dust, temperatures could drop to between 7 and 12 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The presence of this dust is also expected to alter the visual appearance of the sky, leading to less vibrant blue skies than usual. The lack of significant rainfall will limit the deposition of dust onto the ground, alleviating concerns about cleanliness in urban areas.

This atmospheric phenomenon underscores the interconnectedness of global weather patterns, as dust from distant regions can have localized effects, influencing not only the weather but also the aesthetic qualities of the environment. Observers and residents in Czechia are advised to note the potential changes in weather conditions as they plan their activities for the weekend and beginning of the week, especially as temperatures may be cooler than initially expected due to the dust effect.
