A vehicle dragged a motorcycle for five kilometers after a collision on the Salitre road in Ecuador, resulting in significant social media attention.
On February 26, a significant traffic incident occurred on the Salitre road when a vehicle collided with a motorcycle, subsequently dragging it for five kilometers before stopping in the Barranca area of Samborondón. The accident began when the vehicle, attempting to overtake a trailer while descending from an overpass, struck the motorcycle that was attempting to enter a residential area.
Eyewitnesses captured parts of the incident, and videos circulated extensively on social media, sparking public interest and concern regarding road safety and driver awareness. The motorcycle riders were reported to have been left at the side of the road, highlighting the dangers present in this part of Ecuador’s busy routes.
The driver later claimed he was unaware that the motorcycle was lodged under his vehicle, which raises questions about visibility and the responsibility of drivers to ensure they are not endangering other road users. The incident has prompted a response from the Transit Commission of Ecuador, emphasizing the need for improved road etiquette and awareness amongst motorists to prevent similar accidents in the future.
