Emergency aid arrives at the coastline of SP after storms leave hundreds displaced
Emergency humanitarian aid has been sent to the cities of Mongaguá and Peruíbe in Brazil following storms that displaced hundreds of residents.
Following severe storms in São Paulo's coastal region, emergency aid has been dispatched to the affected municipalities of Mongaguá and Peruíbe. In Peruíbe alone, nearly 500 people had to evacuate their homes and are currently residing in temporary shelters. The aid package for Peruíbe includes four pallets of water, 200 basic food baskets, as well as clothes, shoes, toys, pet food, and a wheelchair.
Mongaguá also reported 44 displaced individuals, who have found refuge at the Arthurzão Gymnasium. In response, the city will receive 125 basic food baskets, 300 cleaning and hygiene kits, along with 150 mattresses, 150 pillows, bed linens, blankets, and bottled water. This humanitarian initiative is a collaboration between the Civil Defense and the Social Fund of the State of São Paulo.
Cristiane Freitas, the first lady of the state and president of the Social Fund, supervised the distribution of these essential items and visited the temporary shelters in Peruíbe. The efforts highlight the state's commitment to providing immediate support to those affected by the natural disaster, ensuring that basic needs are met during this challenging time for the communities affected.
