Panathinaikos Remained in the Cup and Paris Punished Them
Panathinaikos suffered a narrow defeat to Paris in a cup match, marking their third consecutive loss.
In a recent basketball match, Panathinaikos was unable to maintain their celebratory momentum following their recent Greek Cup victory, losing to Paris 104-99 at the OAKA arena. This defeat marked their 13th loss in 29 games, contributing to a declining record of 16-13 and an alarming trend of three consecutive losses, two of which have been at home. The French team, having been the sixth to achieve a victory at the Olympic facilities this season, improved their own record to 10-18 with this being their second consecutive away win.
Panathinaikos, which was missing player Kendrick Nunn due to illness, struggled defensively and found themselves down by as many as 17 points (91-74) with about six minutes left in the game. Despite this setback, the team made a commendable effort to rally back and ultimately brought the point difference down to just one basket (101-99) with 44 seconds remaining. However, a failed three-point shot by Hayes-Davis in the closing seconds hindered their chances of a comeback, and coach Ataman was ejected after arguing for a foul call, further complicating the situation for the team as the match drew to a close.
