Those captured with Héctor Enríquez's vehicle will serve preventive prison time

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft and death of Héctor Enríquez, whose body was found on the Alóag-Santo Domingo road.

On February 25, authorities discovered the body of Héctor Enríquez Ruiz in a ravine along the Alóag-Santo Domingo highway, following reports of his vehicle theft the previous week. Enríquez had been reported missing after his truck was stolen on February 18, leading to an extensive search for him. The National Police and the State Attorney General's Office confirmed the recovery of Enríquez's truck, which had been marked as stolen, resulting in the arrest of three suspects in Buena Fe, Los Ríos province.

The suspects—Yismari Z., César M., and Julio C.—were apprehended after their connection to the vehicle was established. A judge from the Multicompetent Judicial Unit of Buena Fe has ordered preventive detention for the suspects, reflecting the seriousness of the charges brought against them, particularly the crime of receptation, which involves the handling of stolen goods. This case highlights ongoing issues of crime and violence related to vehicle theft in Ecuador and the judicial system's response to such offenses.

The discovery of Enríquez's body underscores broader societal concerns around public safety and the prevalence of violent crime in Ecuador. The community awaits further developments in the investigation as authorities work to disentangle the circumstances surrounding Enríquez's death and the suspects' involvement in the crime, emphasizing the need for effective law enforcement measures to combat crime in the area.
