Mike Smith, the 53-year-old actor renowned for portraying Bubbles in the popular Canadian television series 'Trailer Park Boys', is set to stand trial for a charge of sexual assault after pleading not guilty. The incident he is charged for allegedly took place on December 30, 2017, involving a female complainant, and Smith is reported to have been charged by Halifax Regional Police on October 2, 2025. Although he did not appear in court, his lawyer entered the plea on his behalf during proceedings at a Dartmouth, Nova Scotia courtroom.
The court has scheduled trial dates for October 1, 2, and 5, and a pre-trial conference is set for May 8 to further discuss the case with both the Crown and defense. Crown attorney Bryson McDonald indicated that while the complainant will surely be one of the witnesses, it remains unclear how many others will be called to testify. During this period, a publication ban has been placed on any identifying details concerning the alleged victim to protect her privacy, and Smith has been prohibited from any form of contact with her, including communication or visitation.
