On Saturday, employees of the Athens Urban Transport Organization (STA.SY) will halt operations from the start of circulation until 9 AM as part of a planned work stoppage. This action commemorates the third anniversary of the tragic railway accident in Tempi that resulted in the loss of 57 lives, among them 11 railway workers. The decision to strike was influenced by a request from the Association of Victims of the Tempi Accident, which sought assistance from STA.SY to facilitate mass transit for citizens attending a gathering in Syntagma square at noon.

The labor unions involved have emphasized that the primary goal of this work stoppage is to ensure the safe arrival and departure of participants from the center of Athens during the commemoration of the tragic event. This gathering is expected to draw significant public attention as the community reflects on the consequences of the accident and the tragedy that unfolded.
