The 'Midnight Sun' mosque has made a remarkable journey of over 4,000 kilometers from the far south of Canada to its final destination in Inuvik, located in the Arctic. This journey has provided the Muslim community in Inuvik with their first permanent mosque, allowing them to hold collective prayers in a proper facility instead of a makeshift container. The initiative reflects the growing needs of the community as their numbers increase, and highlights their desire for a dedicated space for religious and social activities.

Muslims in Inuvik had recognized the need for a larger worship space due to population growth, prompting the decision to build a mosque. They managed to acquire land for this purpose but faced significant financial hurdles associated with the construction. In response to this challenge, the community sought assistance from various organizations, ultimately receiving a significant contribution from the Zubaida Talib organization, which undertook the task of building the mosque in Winnipeg and transporting it to Inuvik to help reduce costs.

The transport of the mosque was not without difficulties, requiring a lengthy 2,324-kilometer overland journey by truck, which posed challenges due to the mosque's size and the need to navigate various infrastructure. Overall, this initiative not only provides a much-needed facility for the Muslim community in the Arctic but also showcases the resilience and determination of individuals coming together to fulfill their religious and cultural needs, contributing to the richness of the community's diversity in a challenging environment.
