Avenue and streets have partial closure on Friday (27) for fire simulation in Teresina hospital
Partial road closures in Teresina for a fire evacuation simulation at Getúlio Vargas Hospital.
On Friday, the 27th, several roads including Avenida Frei Serafim and streets Primeiro de Maio, Paissandu, and Arthur Vasconcelos in Teresina will undergo partial closures to facilitate a fire simulation at Getúlio Vargas Hospital (HGV). The exercise, scheduled from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, aims to prepare hospital staff and security agencies for emergency scenarios. The closures will occur near the Institute of Tropical Diseases Natan Portella and a local store, ensuring safety while minimizing disruptions to the hospital’s functions.
The simulation represents a first-of-its-kind initiative in Piauí, which will involve multiple entities from public safety, administration, and traffic management to effectively manage the situation. During the exercise, realistic conditions will be employed, including the use of theatrical smoke to create an authentic emergency atmosphere. Despite the partial blockage of surrounding roads, authorities assure that patient care will remain unaffected during the drill, highlighting the hospital's commitment to safety and preparedness.
Juliete Leal, the coordinator for the Worker’s Health Nucleus at HGV, emphasized the importance of such exercises in enhancing emergency response readiness among hospital staff and collaborative entities. This proactive approach not only serves to train personnel but also raises awareness about potential fire hazards and the critical need for efficient evacuation procedures in healthcare settings, particularly in large hospitals with multiple departments and patients who may require immediate assistance in the event of an emergency.
