Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has publicly supported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MFA) leadership in filing a criminal complaint due to leaks regarding sensitive matters from the Finnish embassy in Lisbon to Ilta-Sanomat. Valtonen emphasized that information related to personal privacy must not be leaked to the media.

The complaint relates to previous allegations of misconduct involving Ambassador Titta Maja-Luoto, who was reported last June for inappropriate behavior and harassment. The embassy situation has garnered media attention, highlighting issues within the MFA and the need to manage harassment cases properly, reinforcing the importance of confidentiality in sensitive diplomatic documents.

While the complaint was made without Valtonen being directly informed, it was reported to her cabinet. Valtonen insists on maintaining proper procedures to address harassment, while also ensuring that confidential information is protected from media leaks, indicating a firm stance on both personnel management and information security within the ministry.
