He is Tallink's new CEO
Tallink Grupp has appointed Peep Jalakas as the new CEO, effective April 6, succeeding Paavo Nõgene.
Tallink Grupp has officially announced the appointment of Peep Jalakas as its new CEO and chairman of the management board, effective April 6. His term will last for three years, following the departure of current CEO Paavo Nõgene in May. Jalakas brings significant experience from the banking sector, having served as a member of the board and head of corporate banking at AS SEB Pank since 2023, and has held various roles in the bank over the past two decades.
In the announcement, Jalakas expressed his familiarity and respect for the firm, noting his previous work with Tallink while in the banking sector, which positions him well to lead this committed and highly skilled workforce. In addition to Jalakas's appointment, there are further personnel changes within the company; Margus Schults will leave his position as CFO of Tallink Grupp but will continue as CEO of Tallink Silja Oy in Finland.
As transitions occur within corporate leadership, these changes may have implications for the company's strategic direction and operational efficiency. Jalakas's banking background could suggest a focus on financial stability and growth, possibly steering Tallink towards enhanced corporate partnerships and investments in infrastructure or services as they navigate the complexities of the travel and tourism industry post-pandemic.
