Retired PM hospitalized with suspected poisoning after consuming açaí delivered by a man in Bahia
A retired military police officer in Brazil was hospitalized with suspected poisoning after consuming açaí delivered to him, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding the delivery.
A 56-year-old retired military police officer was hospitalized after he consumed food delivered by an unidentified man in the rural area of Baraúna, located in Barreiras, western Bahia. The incident took place on Tuesday, the 25th, when the delivery person arrived at the retired officer's home carrying a bag with meals, two bottles of juice, and two containers of açaí. The delivery man claimed that the açaí was a gift from the Chamber of Shop Managers (CDL).
Shortly after consuming one of the açaí containers, the officer began experiencing severe dizziness and ultimately lost consciousness. His wife promptly called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), which arrived approximately 20 minutes later to provide assistance. The case has raised alarms in the community, especially considering the presence of the delivery person near the victim's house shortly after the incident.
Currently, the CDL has not responded to requests for comment regarding the situation, leading to speculation about the authenticity of the delivery and potential negligence or foul play involved. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the implications of this case may prompt local authorities and the public to reflect on food safety and personal security regarding deliveries in the region.
