A 20-year-old man has been convicted for sexually assaulting a minor girl who was visiting an amusement park. The conviction was announced by the Utena District Court after an investigation that began when the girl’s mother reported the incident to law enforcement in the fall of 2024. The prosecutor from the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office led the case, which involved officers from the Utena County Police Headquarters.
The court determined that the employee was aware of the victim's age and acted in a way that prevented her from resisting, thereby committing the crime. The severity of the act resulted in the victim developing post-traumatic stress disorder, categorized as a mild health impairment. This case highlights serious concerns regarding the safety of minors in public entertainment venues and the responsibility of such establishments to protect their visitors.
This incident has raised awareness of the critical issue of child safety in amusement parks and other entertainment-related environments in Lithuania. As legal proceedings conclude, there is a pressing need for both preventive measures and appropriate oversight in such locations to ensure that similar events do not occur in the future. This case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that minors face and the imperative for societal vigilance in safeguarding their well-being.
