Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a half-hour phone conversation with President Trump prior to these negotiations, emphasizing the urgency of the upcoming talks. Following their discussion, it was announced that the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umierov, would meet Witkoff and Kushner today to delve into economic documents and specifics pertaining to the prisoner exchange.
