Ukraine updates list of Kremlin mouthpieces
Ukraine has added additional Russian public figures to its list of Kremlin mouthpieces for promoting pro-Russian narratives and legitimizing the war against Ukraine.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Centre for Countering Disinformation, has added ten new names to its list of Russian public figures identified as proponents of Kremlin narratives. This move aims to counteract the influence of individuals who systematically promote Russian propaganda, justify war crimes, and collaborate with the Russian authorities in occupied Ukrainian territories. Among the new additions to the list are artists, journalists, writers, and media figures who have been accused of furthering the interests of the Russian regime.
One notable figure included in this update is Sergei Mikheyev, a political analyst and member of the A Just Russia party. Mikheyev has been publicly vocal against Ukraine, asserting that regions along the Russian border should become uninhabitable and endorsing extreme measures against Ukrainian cities. His statements reflect a broader trend among Russian figures who publicly deny Ukraine's sovereignty and advocate for aggressive military actions against it, which raises concerns about the narrative being propagated within Russia and its potential impact on public opinion.
The inclusion of Maxim Kalashnikov, a journalist and producer associated with the YouTube channel Roy TV, underscores the diverse range of media figures whose actions are being scrutinized. This list aims to serve not only as a means to identify threats to Ukrainian sovereignty but also to inform the public about those who may be supporting harmful narratives that could undermine efforts for peace and reconciliation. The ongoing conflict necessitates vigilance against such propaganda, as controlling the narrative is crucial in contemporary warfare, especially regarding the perception of conflicts in the global arena.
