North Korean System ‘Beginning to Collapse from the Bottom’ - Former Unification Minister Kang In-Duk on Party Congress

Former South Korean Unification Minister Kang In-Duk observed that Kim Jong-un's regime in North Korea is starting to collapse from its foundations despite recent claims of achievements during the party congress.

The recent completion of the Korean Workers' Party Congress on the 25th showcased North Korea's ambitions, with Kim Jong-un urging the advancement of a new five-year plan focused on domestic development and strengthening national defense. Despite maintaining a hardline stance on external relations based on nuclear capabilities, the Congress also hinted at an openness to dialogue with the U.S. Former South Korean Unification Minister Kang In-Duk expressed concerns, stating that the regime appears to be gradually collapsing from the bottom up. He noted that while the Congress celebrated the complete success of the five-year plan for the first time in 30 years, the reality of terror politics and a significant control over the populace played crucial roles in this achievement.
