On February 27, President Droupadi Murmu will mark a significant milestone by flying in the LCH Prachand, India’s first indigenous light combat helicopter, at the Jaisalmer Air Force Station. This historic flight will make her the first president to co-pilot an indigenous combat helicopter, showcasing India’s advancements in military technology. During the flight, the President will also conduct an aerial survey of the 'Vayu Shakti-2026' exercise area, highlighting the operational readiness of the Indian Air Force.
After the flight, President Murmu will attend the major firepower demonstration event, 'Vayu Shakti-2026', at the Pokhran Field Firing Range, where she will serve as the chief guest. This event is a significant display of the Indian Armed Forces' capabilities, particularly in the context of regional security challenges. The Prachand helicopter, designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), demonstrates India's growing defense manufacturing capabilities and is geared to operate effectively in high-altitude terrains such as Ladakh and Siachen.
The LCH Prachand is not just a technological achievement but also represents a strategic asset for the Indian military, particularly in the context of ongoing tensions along the Pakistan-China border. With its ability to target enemy tanks, bunkers, and personnel, it enhances India's combat readiness and reflects the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defense production, which is crucial for national security.
