'Living in La La Land': India's Message to Pakistan from the UN Platform

During the UN Human Rights Council's 55th session in Geneva, India asserted its stance against Pakistan, describing its claims as false and unfounded.

At the 55th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva, India took the opportunity to counter Pakistan's narrative about Jammu and Kashmir. Using the Right of Reply, India's First Secretary Anupama Singh emphasized that Pakistan's allegations regarding Indian sovereignty are baseless and unacceptable. She highlighted that the merger of Jammu and Kashmir into India is legal and irreversible, established through the Indian Independence Act of 1947 and in accordance with international law.

India criticized the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for echoing Pakistan's political propaganda, suggesting that it does not align with the organization's member states' commitments. The Indian government sees Pakistan's persistent promotion of these claims as driven by jealousy and a deep-seated animosity towards India's legal standing in the region. Singh reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, and the only pending issue is Pakistan's illegal occupation of parts of the territory.

The ongoing tensions surrounding Jammu and Kashmir remain a significant point of contention between India and Pakistan, impacting regional stability and international relations. India's firm response at this global platform demonstrates its intent to challenge narratives that undermine its territorial integrity and strengthen its claims on Jammu and Kashmir within international forums.
