Czech police are gearing up for the Speed Marathon event and are inviting the public to suggest locations for speed checks.

Czech police are launching another edition of the Speed Marathon, an initiative that focuses on illegal speeding and promotes road safety. The event will take place on April 15, and citizens have the opportunity to directly influence where speed enforcement will be most active. Last year's event saw significant public engagement, with over 13000 locations identified and more than 117000 votes cast for police checkpoints across the country.

Police spokesperson Violeta Siřišťová has urged the public to get involved by reporting risky areas known for frequent traffic violations. The enthusiasm for the initiative has grown, with participation numbers tripling since 2024, indicating a heightened community awareness and responsibility towards road safety. This year, the feedback mechanism has already been opened for citizens to contribute their suggestions for hazardous zones, allowing for timely proactive measures against speeding drivers.

As the event draws nearer, it is anticipated that public interest will remain high, leading to more collaborative efforts between the police and the community. The drive to curb reckless driving is not only about punishment but also promoting a culture of safe driving through community participation and consistent enforcement of traffic laws.
