They will perform at the UMK opening number
Finnish artists JJ and Erika Vikman will perform together at the opening of the UMK, featuring a mashup and Vikman's new single.
The opening number of the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) will feature a performance by last year's Eurovision winner, JJ, alongside Erika Vikman, who represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest. According to Yle, the two artists will combine their talents in what is described as the 'ultimate UMK mashup.' This collaboration is one of the highlights leading up to the final event this Saturday.
Erika Vikman is also set to release her new song titled 'Father (I Will Never Confess)' in conjunction with the opening number. This English-language track was released last Friday, and it's expected to make a significant impression during her performance. JJ, who won the Eurovision contest last year with the song 'Wasted Love,' will be hoping to continue his success in the Finnish music scene with this performance, having previously achieved 11th place representing Finland.
The UMK final will take place on Saturday, February 28, at 21:00 at Nokia Arena in Tampere. The lineup for the competition includes artists such as Etta, Linda Lampenius, Pete Parkkonen, Komiat, Sinikka Monte, Antti Paalanen, Chachi, and Kiki. The event promises to showcase a diverse array of talent as Finland prepares to select its representative for this year's Eurovision contest.
