Possible Pregnancy: Crying Student; 24-Year Prison Sentence for Martial Arts Instructor for Sexual Assault
A martial arts instructor in Japan was sentenced to 24 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting eight female students, causing distress and trauma, including one student fearing she might be pregnant.
A 62-year-old martial arts instructor in Japan was sentenced to 24 years in prison by the Fukuoka District Court for sexually assaulting eight underage girls, including filming some of the acts. The court highlighted the severity of the crimes, noting that the instructor treated the victims solely as objects to satisfy his own desires. The sentence was lower than the prosecution's request for 30 years because the court took into account certain mitigating factors in the instructor's background.
The crimes occurred between December 2018 and August 2024 in various locations, including the instructor's dojo and parks, and involved 32 confirmed acts of non-consensual sexual intercourse with children under the age of 13. In total, the instructor faced allegations involving over 500 recorded images and videos. The court recognized the prolonged suffering of the victims, some of whom were tormented by the inability to disclose their experiences to their parents, ultimately leading to intense emotional distress, notably expressed by one victim who wept and feared she could be pregnant.
The ruling underscored the serious nature of the offenses as particularly heinous within the context of sexual crimes, calling for an extended prison term reflecting the lasting impact on the victims. This case raises significant concerns regarding the protection of vulnerable children and the responsibilities of instructors in educational and training environments across Japan.
