New entertainment palace to revive the rundown shopping center 21:an in Eskilstuna
A new entertainment venue is set to transform the abandoned 21:an shopping center in Eskilstuna, with hopes of revitalizing the local area.
The 21:an shopping center in Eskilstuna, once bustling with shoppers, has been largely empty and neglected in recent years. In a move to rejuvenate the site, the new owner, Maison forte, is planning a significant redevelopment aimed at bringing life back into the center. CEO Rikard Gillberg expressed confidence that this initiative will positively impact the town, indicating a commitment to revitalization and community engagement.
The plans include the introduction of O´Learys, a popular pub and entertainment chain, which will occupy approximately 2,500 square meters of the space. This addition is part of a larger vision that encompasses not only dining and drinking options but also leisure activities such as bowling, dancing, and potentially a gym. The aim is to create a vibrant social hub that attracts visitors and meets diverse entertainment needs within the local community.
Negotiations are currently underway to secure additional tenants for the property, with ambitions for the entire facility of over 11,000 square meters to be leased by the time it reopens in the fall of 2027. This redevelopment project reflects broader trends in urban renewal, highlighting the potential for repurposing old commercial spaces to support modern community needs and economic activity in Eskilstuna.
