LOC inspects facilities ahead of 2026 National Para Games
The Local Organizing Committee has completed an inspection of venues for the upcoming National Para Games in Nigeria, ensuring facilities are ready for the event scheduled for 2026.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the third National Para Games has finalized inspections of venues in Abuja ahead of the event set to occur from March 26 to April 3, 2026. The comprehensive inspection was aimed at assessing the readiness of various facilities, identifying any technical deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with standards necessary for hosting an inclusive sports event. Officials from the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed that the evaluations covered all essential venues designated for the multi-sport event.
The inspection focused on fifteen sports venues within the MKO Abiola National Stadium Complex and other facilities throughout the Federal Capital Territory. These included areas designated for a wide range of para sports, such as Amputee Football, Para Athletics, and Wheelchair Basketball, among others. The thorough assessment aimed to ensure that each venue meets the required standards for safety, accessibility, and functionality, critical for athletes with disabilities.
Overall, the inspection report indicated that most venues are in good condition and capable of hosting the upcoming National Para Games. This proactive approach by the LOC not only highlights the importance of inclusivity in sports but also signifies Nigeria's commitment to promoting para sports at the national level, ensuring that athletes have the facilities they need to compete effectively in a global arena.
