Aneel attributes increase in electricity bill in Roraima to Linhão de Tucuruí costs
The general director of the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) cited a judicial process related to the Linhão de Tucuruí project as a key reason for the 24.13% increase in electricity rates in Roraima.
On October 25, the director-general of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), Sandoval Feitosa, explained during a public hearing in the Federal Senate that a significant portion of the 24.13% increase in electricity bills in Roraima is attributable to legal costs associated with the Linhão de Tucuruí project. This project aims to connect Roraima to Brazil's National Interconnected System (SIN), which is vital for ensuring a stable electricity supply in the region. The announcement was made amidst concerns from local federal representatives calling for a reduction in tariffs and warning of potential future hikes that could impact local businesses due to the introduction of a new 'white tariff'.
