Jang Dong-hyuk: Lee Jae-myung's North Korea Policy is Ultimately Unrequited Love... What Returned is Only Mockery

Jang Dong-hyuk criticized the Lee Jae-myung administration's North Korea policy, claiming it has failed and only resulted in scorn from the North.

Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of the People Power Party, emphasized in a recent meeting that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's statement about permanently excluding Korea from the category of kin shows the inherent failure of the Lee Jae-myung administration's North Korea policy, likening it to unrequited love. He condemned the government's approach as excessively submissive, asserting that attempts to win North Korea's favor by lowering South Korea's national security posture have only led to derision from the North.

Jang argued that true national security cannot be maintained through appeasement or by seeking approval from North Korea, but rather through a robust alliance with the United States and a firm commitment to deterrence. He noted that recent actions, such as plans to restore the September 19 military agreement and establish no-fly zones, illustrate a growing disruption in the South Korea-U.S. alliance, highlighting the government’s consistent opposition to U.S. defense enhancements as a point of contention.

Furthermore, Jang expressed deep concerns regarding legislative proposals, like the distortion of law crime bill, asserting that these efforts are aimed at preserving Lee's position and consolidating power rather than serving the nation's interests. He described the current atmosphere as increasingly dangerous, likening the situation to a descent toward totalitarianism, and claimed that the People Power Party will fiercely oppose the disruption of the South Korea-U.S. alliance and any actions that threaten national security.
