Man arrested for selling ‘vapes’ and ‘pods’ in the interior of Ceará; teenagers were clients

A 20-year-old man was arrested in Limoeiro do Norte, Ceará, for illegally selling electronic cigarettes to minors.

In Limoeiro do Norte, Ceará, a 20-year-old man was apprehended for the illegal sale of electronic cigarettes, commonly known as 'vapes' or 'pods'. The arrest took place on the 24th when local police were alerted to the unlawful distribution of these devices, particularly among underage customers. Investigations revealed that some of the clients were adolescents under the age of 18, sparking significant concern over the implications for youth health and substance use.

Following the gravity of the situation and the identification of premises associated with these criminal activities, the Civil Police obtained search and seizure warrants for two locations linked to the suspect. Upon executing these warrants, authorities discovered and confiscated 49 electronic cigarettes and a card reader that facilitated transactions. The man was arrested in the act and subsequently taken to the local police station for processing.

Once at the police station, the suspect faced charges related to public safety offenses, emphasizing the legal repercussions of engaging minors in the sale of such products.
