VIDEO: Man has long-term rental vehicle. The company demands repair costs after several months.

A Latvian man faces unexpected repair bills after returning a rented Volvo, claiming the rental company is sending him mysterious invoices despite previous repair costs he incurred.

Agris, a resident of Apē, entered into a long-term rental agreement with a car rental company called 'Carbuzz' for a 14-year-old Volvo, paying around 260 euros a month. Shortly after starting the rental, he encountered several mechanical issues with the vehicle, which led him to undertake costly repairs himself, spending thousands of euros. Despite his efforts to maintain the vehicle, Agris's initial plan to purchase it after the rental term fell through due to the issues he experienced with the car.

In late October of the previous year, Agris decided to terminate the rental agreement prematurely, returning the vehicle to the company. To his surprise, he began receiving unexpected invoices from 'Carbuzz' for repairs and costs related to the vehicle. Though he admits that the car had been scratched by a vandal shortly before returning it, he believes that the company's other financial demands are unreasonable. This situation highlights the potential complications and hidden costs involved in long-term vehicle rentals, as well as the consumer's experience dealing with rental companies.

The story, which was covered by the TVNET program 'Bez tabu,' raises important questions about consumer rights and responsibilities in rental agreements, especially regarding maintenance and repair liabilities. Agris's case illustrates the frustrations many consumers experience when rental companies impose additional fees and the challenges of navigating such disputes.
