Contactless payment will be accepted at all turnstiles of 12 train stations in SP

Starting from this Sunday, twelve metropolitan train stations in São Paulo will accept contactless payments at all turnstiles, eliminating the need for passengers to buy tickets at booths or kiosks.

As of this Sunday, twelve metropolitan train stations in São Paulo are set to accept contactless payments at all turnstiles, broadening the accessibility and convenience for commuters. This upgrade will allow users to pay through both debit and credit modalities, meaning they will no longer have to purchase tickets at the standard booths or kiosks. The new system is being implemented across stations managed by CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos), ViaMobilidade, and TIC Trens.

The implementation begins at stations with heavy passenger flow, including Francisco Morato, Mauá, Guaianases, and Corinthians-Itaquera. These stations are critical hubs, and the introduction of contactless payment is expected to streamline the boarding process, reduce lines, and enhance overall commuter experience. Already, some stations like Aeroporto-Guarulhos, Brás, Ipiranga, and others partially accepted this payment method, but the expansion to all turnstiles signifies a significant upgrade.

The contactless system is compatible with multiple payment methods, accepting Elo, Mastercard, and Visa cards, as well as mobile devices and smartwatches. This technological advance marks a step toward modernization in public transport payment systems, reflecting a growing trend towards digital transactions in Brazil, especially amid the rising popularity of contactless payment methods during the pandemic.
