The Secretaría de Marina (Navy Secretariat) of Mexico has reported a significant operation wherein it collaborated with the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) to dismantle a clandestine laboratory for methamphetamine production located in Chacala, Durango. This operation not only highlights the commitment of the authorities to combat drug trafficking but it also underscores the ongoing battle in the Golden Triangle region, known for drug production and trafficking activities.

During the operation, authorities estimated that the dismantling of this lab would result in a financial blow to organized crime amounting to over 4.651 billion pesos. This figure reflects the scale of operations that have been disrupted and emphasizes the importance of such interventions in reducing the supply of illicit drugs. The military personnel involved, assigned to the Fourth Naval Region, conducted aerial patrols in the mountainous area of Durango, which allowed for precise targeting of the criminal setup.

Additionally, the operation yielded significant quantities of illegal substances, including approximately 2,400 kilograms of finished methamphetamine and vast amounts of precursor chemicals such as ethyl alcohol, P2P, caustic soda, cyanide, and aluminum. These materials are essential for the industrial production of synthetic drugs, indicating that the lab was well-equipped and operated at a substantial scale. The impact of this operation represents a critical step towards disrupting the drug supply chain in Mexico and protecting the communities affected by drug-related violence and crime.
