A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night, where a 47-year-old man named Carlos Coelho dos Santos was fatally hit by a van on the BR-415 highway in the southwestern region of Bahia, between the towns of Barra do Choça and Vitória da Conquista. According to reports from the State Highway Police (PRE), Santos suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the accident.

Witnesses indicated that the van's driver did not stop to provide assistance after striking Santos; rather, the driver collided with the side of a pickup truck before fleeing from the accident site. As of now, there is no information regarding the identity of the driver, and authorities are looking into the incident to establish accountability and hopefully locate the perpetrator.

The victim's body has been transported to the Medical Legal Institute (IML) in Vitória da Conquista for an autopsy and preservation of evidence.
