Paolo Rocca confirmed that Tenaris plans to expand in Venezuela and continues to analyze the dumping complaint against Indian pipes
Paolo Rocca announced that Tenaris is looking to expand operations in Venezuela and is also reviewing a complaint regarding unfair competition concerning Indian pipes.
During an investors' conference, Paolo Rocca, CEO of Tenaris, disclosed the company's intention to expand its operations in Venezuela. This comes after the challenges faced due to the 2008 expropriation by former president Hugo Chávez. Rocca indicated that if the Venezuelan government expands oil licenses, business growth could be expected starting in 2026.
Tenaris, a key player in the global production of seamless and welded pipes, plays a significant role in the oil and gas industry, supplying materials for pipeline construction and drilling. Rocca mentioned the reactivation of services tied to Chevron's operations following recent interventions from the U.S. government, suggesting a favorable environment for international business.
In addition to plans for Venezuela, Tenaris is also assessing an offer from Welspun in Argentina, which is being scrutinized for alleged unfair competition in the sale of pipes. This dual focus on both Venezuelan expansion and local competitiveness illustrates Tenaris's strategy to strengthen its market position while navigating complex geopolitical challenges.
