Weather: New rains could accumulate about 100 millimeters in specific areas of the agricultural region
Argentina is expecting irregular rainfall of up to 100 millimeters in certain agricultural regions between February 26 and March 4, affecting crop conditions.
The week from February 26 to March 4 will be characterized by highly irregular rainfall and significant temperature fluctuations across much of Argentina, as reported in the latest agro-climatic outlook from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange. The period will begin with the passage of a storm front, likely to generate uneven precipitation across different regions.
The highest rainfall accumulations are expected in the northwest (NOA), the Chaco region, central Mesopotamia, and parts of Córdoba and eastern Pampas. In these areas, rain totals are predicted to range between 10 and 50 millimeters, with local spots exceeding 100 millimeters, particularly in the northwest NOA and eastern Córdoba. However, much of the national agricultural area will receive either low to moderate contributions, resulting in uneven rainfall distribution at a critical time for summer crops.
After the storm front, a cold air mass will advance, likely leading to further temperature drops. These weather conditions are crucial for agricultural stakeholders as rainfall and temperature play significant roles in crop yield and health, especially during this sensitive growing period for summer plants, which may impact the overall agricultural output in Argentina and the economy reliant on crop production.
