Bus went off the road

A tour bus operated by Reykjavík Excursions veered off the road near Litla Kaffistofan, but no injuries were reported as passengers were safely transported back to the city.

A tour bus belonging to Reykjavík Excursions encountered difficulties and veered off the road near the popular café, Litla Kaffistofan, in Iceland. Fortunately, all 53 passengers on board were unharmed and were promptly transported back to Reykjavík. The bus reportedly experienced challenging driving conditions due to slippery roads and strong winds in the area, with the incident occurring in the afternoon around 4 PM.

Björn Ragnarsson, CEO of Reykjavík Excursions, explained that the bus is relatively new and equipped with good tires, yet faced adverse weather conditions that contributed to the accident. Despite the proximity to the South Iceland police jurisdiction, the bus was located outside those boundaries, highlighting the varied geographical conditions within Iceland. The response to the incident was swift, and no one was placed in danger despite the unexpected situation.

Authorities mentioned that the bus will be retrieved using a crane for safety, emphasizing the careful measures taken to address and manage vehicle incidents in such challenging weather. The unaffected status of the passengers and the prompt recovery efforts underline the robust emergency protocols in place during such occurrences.
