Three military police officers are arrested in PR suspected of supplying weapons to criminals and staging arrests
Three military police officers in Paraná were arrested for allegedly supplying weapons to criminals and staging false arrests.
Three military police officers, comprising two soldiers and one corporal, were arrested in a preemptive operation in Maringá, Paraná. According to the Public Ministry of Paraná (MP-PR), the officers are suspected of several serious crimes, including providing firearms to criminal elements and fabricating false evidence to protect illicit activities. One of the officers is also under investigation for potential involvement in contract killings.
The arrests were part of a larger operation by the Special Group for the Combat of Organized Crime (Gaeco), executing a total of eight search and seizure warrants and three preventive arrest warrants across Maringá and Mandaguaçu. Support was provided by the 4th Military Police Battalion, where the arrested officers were stationed, alongside the General Military Police Internal Affairs of Paraná. This coordinated approach underscores the severity of the allegations and the commitment to tackling organized crime within the police ranks.
The case was prompted by findings from the State Narcotics Division (Denarc), which had uncovered evidence during a drug trafficking investigation. With the increasing concerns over the integrity of law enforcement agencies and their potential collusion with criminal organizations, this incident raises critical questions about oversight and accountability within the police force in Brazil, particularly in regions grappling with organized crime and violence.
