IED explosion rocks Zamfara highway, trailer damaged

On Wednesday, an Improvised Explosive Device detonated on the Gusau–Funtua highway in Zamfara State, Nigeria, specifically damaging a cement-conveying trailer. The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, confirmed the incident and disclosed that tactical teams from law enforcement, particularly Explosive Ordnance Disposal units, were actively engaged in the area. These teams reportedly detected and neutralized several IEDs along the Kucheri–Danjibga–Keta axis, demonstrating a proactive response to the continued risks posed by insurgents. The police operatives faced an ambush during their operations but were able to defend themselves and restore traffic along the affected highway.
