Counseling Board investigates official phone used to access pornographic website in Normandia
The Counseling Board of Normandia, Brazil, has launched an administrative process to investigate the use of an official phone that accessed a pornographic website, following a request from the Public Ministry of Roraima.
The Counseling Board of Normandia, located in the northern region of Roraima, Brazil, has initiated an administrative process to examine the unauthorized use of an official cell phone to access a pornographic website. This action was formalized in the Municipal Official Gazette (DOM) and is a response to a demand from the Public Ministry of Roraima (MPRR), which has started an initial inquiry to assess whether there are grounds for irregularity. As of now, there have been no formal accusations, and no one has been held accountable for the incident.
According to the Public Ministry, the inappropriate access to the website occurred on December 13 and 14, 2025, based on the browsing history found on the institutional device belonging to the Counseling Board. The investigation committee formed to look into the matter has a maximum of 60 days to complete its findings, although this deadline may be extended if necessary. The committee has requested the municipal administration identify who was using the device during those specific times to help determine how this breach occurred.
This incident raises significant questions regarding the use of public resources and accountability among officials in Brazil. The inquiry reflects a broader concern about the proper use of public funds and the responsibilities of appointed individuals to ensure that government assets are not misused. As the investigation unfolds, it could lead to discussions on policy reform and stricter regulations governing the use of official devices by government employees, particularly in sensitive areas such as child welfare and public service.
