Lithuania's Handball Team is the Leader Among the Baltic Countries in European Rankings
Lithuania's men's handball team has dropped one position to 28th in the EHF rankings while the women's team has moved up to 29th.
The European Handball Federation (EHF) rankings reflect the performance of national teams over the last four years, with a significant emphasis on results from the past two years. Lithuania's men's handball team now sits at 28th, having lost one spot in the ranking. They currently have 18.75 rating points, which places them just below Ukraine, who secured a better position due to qualifying for this year's European Championship. Lithuania's performance remains competitive among the Baltic nations, as they recently defeated Estonia twice during the European Championship qualifiers.
In comparison, Estonia now ranks 29th with 18.5 points following a loss of one position, while Latvia has slightly improved, reaching 35th place with 13.75 points. The close contention among these three teams highlights the competitive nature of Baltic handball. The Lithuanian men’s team is still in contention for the upcoming 2026 European Championship, indicating that they have potential to improve their standing with upcoming matches.
On the women's side, Lithuania's national team has experienced a jump in the EHF rankings, moving up four spots to 29th position, accumulating 16.25 points. Their recent successes in the initial stage of the European Championship qualifiers have contributed to this upward trajectory.
