Neptūnas sent a message and saddened the national team coach R. Kurtinaitis
R. Kurtinaitis expressed concerns about the absence of key player Arnas Velička due to injury ahead of the basketball team's training camp.
During a press conference on Monday, national team coach R. Kurtinaitis addressed the challenges he faces in assembling the ideal roster for the upcoming qualification window. One significant setback is the injury of a key player, Arnas Velička, who leads the Klaipėda "Neptūnas" team. Kurtinaitis acknowledged that this absence complicates his strategic planning as the team prepares for crucial matches.
Kurtinaitis elaborated on his attempts to reach out to Velička, expressing concerns about his unavailability for communication. He fears that without the player’s participation, the team's capabilities to perform at their best may be hindered. He noted that they are unsure about the extent of Velička's injury and have been unable to secure his presence at their training camp in Birštonas, which boasts excellent rehabilitation facilities.
The coach emphasized the importance of Velička's recovery and the role of highly qualified medical professionals available through the "Žalgiris" team, who could assist in Velička's rehabilitation. Kurtinaitis remains optimistic about the potential for recovery but is realistic about the challenges that injuries bring to team dynamics and preparation for the competition ahead.
