Leisure in Dorfen: Sports Move to Moos

The largest sports club in Dorfen faces challenges with capacity due to its growth and infrastructure issues.

In Dorfen, the TSV sports club, with approximately 1,800 members, has become the largest sports association in the area. However, due to limited training facilities, the football department has unfortunately had to turn away interested children for years. Other recreational facilities such as the nearby tennis club have uncertain futures due to expiring lease agreements, and the local outdoor swimming pool, built in the 1960s, is now deemed too small for the current population, which has nearly tripled since its inception.

The town also houses the ESC Dorfen ice stadium, which has considered relocating if a new, shared sports center is developed on the outskirts of the city. Recently, the Erding district committee approved a plan to move and expand the TSV sports fields to the southern outskirts of Rutzmoos, which will include ten tennis courts, 188 parking spaces, and a new outdoor swimming pool. This development shows an effort to address the growing needs of the community for sports and recreational facilities.

These changes come at a crucial time as Dorfen's population rises and existing facilities struggle to accommodate all interested participants. The proposed sports center aims to revitalize local sporting events and integrate new options for leisure activities, ensuring that no child or resident is turned away due to lack of capacity in the future. Effective implementation of these plans will be key to improving the community's recreational landscape and fostering a vibrant sporting culture.
